Calendula

I simply love this pretty little flower.  Calendula is a gorgeous golden flower sometimes referred to as the pot marigold.  This edible plant is wonderful for your skin.

Traditionally Calendula oil or a Calendula compresses have been used for healing wounds, cooling down inflammation, and promote healing.  Internally, Calendula tea helps with stomach and digestive issues.

The healing properties of Calendula range from anti-septic and anti-inflammatory to immune stimulating and can be found in soaps, creams and salves.  Calendula is also appropriate for aging skin.  The natural restorative properties can help protect the skin from premature thinning and aging.  You might even find this flower popping up in eye creams and diaper rash treatments as it is safe and effective on the most delicate and sensitive skin.

I am in the process of infusing dried Calendula in Sunflower Oil for use in Holistic Facial Treatments.  Keep up with me here or on Facebook to see how this experiment in skin healing oil progresses!
